Experts Agree, SAT Test Prep Is Necessary For High SAT Scores

The SAT test is an examination of a student’s ability to prepare comprehensively for all aspects of the SAT test–it is not an intelligence test or a record of a student’s academic ability. The SAT focuses on specific SAT skills that can only be gained and utilized by SAT test preparation. As the following article states, SAT test prep is crucial to attaining a high SAT score.

For “Test Prep Parents,” Thinking Ahead is Required

Test prep guru Anthony-James Green encourages families to think of test prep as a process, not an event. For many students and parents, the SAT is something that “happens when it happens.” Considering how important SAT scores are to college admissions officers, families are taking a serious gambit when treating their test scores this way.
“Parents are sometimes appalled when they see their children’s first round of testing results. That’s usually when they give me a call. A lot of my students are incredibly gifted, intelligent, and do quite well in school, but they come to me with horrendous SAT or ACT scores.
“When people tell me what they’ve done to prepare for their SATs and ACTs, I’m most interested not in what they HAVE done, but in what they HAVEN’T. I can predict a student’s SAT score within 100 points by observing the steps that he has or hasn’t taken during the course of his test prep process.”
According to Green, getting a good SAT score is a more a journey than it is a task.
